this quote is the first thing that caught my eye when visiting the website for Sugar Hairsalon. the thing is, i've said this toooo many times in my life... too many.

last friday.. or maybe saturday i went to an art show at this hair salon(???)... i know... i was like, weird... turns out my friend Jess' band was playing as well. so i hung around and ate pizza and looked at the, what seemed to be, mostly LA themed art. well on Tuesday I decided to check it out again during business hours and maybe.. possibly.. get a haircut. not only do they succeed in the following:

we've created a space where we can speak honestly, create freely and make people look good. located on the border of echo park and silverlake, sugar hair salon has recently migrated east from the sunset juction to the old jeff electric gallery.

Tommy (the owner) cut my hair. and he was really great. i even hung around and had lunch with them.

Sunday Nov. 25th:

the flight:

luckily, the precursor to the flight (see previous post) wasn’t indicative of chad’s behavior the rest of the flight .
thank fucking god .
maybe it’s cuz chad was sleeping and i may or may not have roofied (shut the fuck up about the spelling) him into a deep sleep .
but really, i’ve never appreciated effervescing drugs more than i do now (tasteless & odorless . woooo!!!!!)
i feel rapist-y .
oh .
oh-wait .
the guilt has passed .

the hotel:

i’m used to sharing a room with chad (we’ve been living together for the past month in LA), just not in such close quarters and not in such a parisian manner .
to understand what that means, the logistics of our “apart/hotel” (exactly what it sounds like, we have a kitchenette and errything) must be described.
our suite consists of a living room, a shower, a kitchenette, and a separate room for the toilet located by the front door .
having separate rooms for the shower & toilet creates issues .
namely one we have coined the “morning shit walk of shame”. basically, that’s when your morning shit, and post-shit shower (not a shower of shit in fact, but a shower after you shit) are separated by the living room (which is actually our bedroom consisting of a pull out cot [chad’s bed] and a couch [mine] .
in addition, there is no sink in the toilet room (what the fuck else can u call it?), so you can't wash your hands unless you do the shit walk of shame, or stop at the kitchenette sink (but really, who wants to stop mid-shit walk of shame?)
uncomfortable ? yes .
funny ? definitely .
to make the whole toilet etiquette situation funnier, the hotel doesn’t regularly restock the TP, so chad and I had to pull a james bond-esque mission to recon more paper .
we took some extra towels too for good measure .

next order of business, I woke up this morning (730am-ish, fuck jet-lag) to what can only be deemed as “one-way gay incestual vidchat sex” .
does that really need to be explained ? maybe .
anyone who knows the cunningham twins know that they love each other, in a very overt way .
just to give you an example, all their conversations end with “I love you brudder” . as if that isn’t bad enough, they say it in a baby voice .

mix both of those lil' anecdotes, and you get the incident that happened next .

need I say more ?
living with chad is nothing short of…..interesting .

let’s move on to the shower oddities .
there is no shower door .
they (hotel fascists) expect you to sit in the tub and remove the shower head from it’s lil' holster and bathe yourself .
i don't know about you but i like having a choice when i shower: sit or stand? shower or bath ?
always up for new thing, i gave it a whirl . definitely weird, but I kinda like it .
yet, i learned this lil' custom the hard way.
i turned on the shower head and realized that an essential element (shower door) was missing, and basically flooded the bathroom .
smooth move schnall .

the daily grind:

cigarettes .
obviously we smoke them…heavily .
we made a stop in the duty free store in Chicago, intent on purchasing one carton of camel lights . when we saw the “buy two get one carton free” deal, we both looked at each other as if to say with our eyes, “should we? we should!!!!!!!!!!!”
mind you that’s 3 cartons of cigarettes for two weeks of travel .
let’s do the math .
10 pack a carton, 3 cartons, 30 packs with 20 cigs each…
yea, u guessed it .

600 cigarettes .

even at the time we knew this would be a bit of overkill, but at least we could be lavish with our cigarette consumption while starving in paris (lacks of funds is a perennial issue) .
it’s three days into our trip and we’re halfway through a carton .
ew .
yea we share with our Parisian homies, but still .
when i woke up this morning (see above), chad was on his fourth cigarette .
my disgusted look caused him to gain some perspective and he immediately put it out .
he lit another within ten minutes .

departure date and i already want to murder chad .
last night (time has become irrelevant at this point. we haven’t slept in nearly 24 hrs, and while i have enlisted a narcotic aid, chad has chosen the pussy “natural” route), chad and i cut each other’s hair. as he sat in my upstairs bathtub, I buzzed his newly shorn head . when i finished, we switched places and chad shaved the sides of my head .
why is this relevant to our trip you ask ?
well….
right now I am sitting in airport terminal 49a at LAX, annoyed as fuck .

fucking fucktard chad . I will kill you .
we haven’t even left los angeles yet . our first of fourteen days has yet to begin, and you’ve already managed to annihilate all of my bottled up patience for you.
while chad did in fact warn me that he is “terrible to travel with” and did caution me as to the perils of his persistent whining, i somehow predicted the experience to be less unbearable.
i was wrong.
it is now 7:40am .
we left the house at 6:30am .
as of now, chad has mentioned the fact that i have “fucked up” his hair at least twenty times . that is not an exaggeration .
the comments vary from, “noa, you screwed up so bad! it looks terrible *whine*whine*whine*” to, “how did you screw up so much? is my hair bad? can u see it? damnit noa” . etc etc .
while i’m typing this, chad has already mentioned it twice .

with no vaseline .
if i have to listen to him bitch for the next 15 hours, i will be forced to shove the nearest sharp object into my eardrum . to quote a friend, chad’s voice when he’s whining “is like an ice pick to my skull” .

Last night Cory and I went to see the Klaxons show here in L.A. It was kool, though the sound was kind of fucked. The aftershow was funny; Arctic Monkeys, Dirty Pretty Things (who asked us to do a remix of them), Annie from Giant Drag, Nick Valensi (duuuude), The Like (of course), Alex from Phantom Planet (pretty as fuck), etc. I drank a Diet Coke and felt jittery like I was on cocaine. Some girl tried to come home with Cory and I. She was all, "I can just stay at yours!?" what??? no...

say i am addicted. but hey atleast i dont have an iPhone.. and noo I'm not going to get one either.I'm not getting one because I already have a phone that's better: it's called the razor, it's the pinnacle of human achievement, and I love it more than my family: well maybe its not that great but I'm just tired of the iPhone fanboys shooting huge sticky wads and high-fiving each other over their stupid cellphones.the razor uses a technology that's even more advanced than the iPhone's tap screen, allowing you to actually feel the keys you press as you're pressing them! The technology is called "tactile response," and it allows you to do things like dial a phone number without staring at your screen like a shit-chucking ape. t's not three devices in one any more than my laptop is you morons. Using Jobs' loose definition of what constitutes a separate device, technically my laptop can be considered 9 devices in one:

A clock
A calculator
An "Internet communications device"
A phone (I can make voice calls with my modem)
A video phone
A pornographic media storage device
A video player
A word processor
And an "iPod"

There's no such thing as an iPod. The word "iPod" is a marketing tool for a hard drive with software that plays mp3s. Yeah, doesn't sound so sexy now, does it? And an "internet communications device" is officially the douchebaggiest way of saying "it has a browser." So actually it's just a phone that plays mp3s and has a browser. SNORE. so if you want to have a Screen that turns into a smudgy piece of shit after a few minutes of use or phone You have to send to Apple when the battery dies and risk getting your phone lost, stolen, or damaged in transit or Can't do fundamental tasks like copy & paste text or Holds your phone hostage to Apple for new software updates because Apple won't allow everyone to develop applications for it or Can't record video or doesnt have Voice dialing... then get a piece of shit iphone and high five your friends.

bad dreams, toast with cream

i woke up really early this morning via a bad dream. i dreamt that my mother was telling me that someone had died. i couldn't tell if she was saying dad or grandma. so i was getting really frustrated because i couldn't understand her. then i woke up.

after i woke up i called starbucks to what time they opened. it is basically at the end of the drive way of the house im staying/got kicked out of. i saw brian wilson (the king of melodies and harmonies) at starbucks. walking very zombie-like. of course he was wearing one of those "hawaiian" shirts. fuuuck. he's a genius. in this same shopping center like a year and a half ago, he almost ran me over. again, very zombie-like trance thing happening. we had eggs 2 booths apart.

i also realized, within the past week, that i'm in love with amy winehouse. i bought the album yesterday. if anyone knows a super thin girl with siick tatts, a beehive and missing a tooth, let me know. i want to marry her. what a bad-asssssssssss.
